OFFRAMP Exclusive Patented R&D Kit
Internal Throttle Kit – Harley TC, Dyna, Softail, Touring & Sportster Compatible (No Welding – Only Minor Notching Required.)
🔧 The Ultimate Clean Handlebar Solution for Custom Builds– OFFRAMP Premium Internal Throttle Kit
The OFFRAMP Internal Throttle Kit is an essential upgrade for any serious custom motorcycle build. The kit sits inside the end of the handlebar, completely eliminating the exposed throttle housing. It also hides the throttle cable inside the handlebar, creating an extremely clean, stripped-down, and hardcore cockpit look.
This kit fits factory-style 1″ handlebar ends and also works with most custom oversized “fat bar” setups. Please note that on many oversized handlebars, the main body of the bar may be larger in diameter, but the control-end tube is still typically 1″. The handlebar end diameter is what determines throttle kit fitment — not the diameter of the main bar section.
With its smooth dual ball-bearing structure, this kit delivers a precise, light, and direct throttle feel while keeping the handlebar area cleaner, sharper, and more in line with a true custom motorcycle style.
Each kit also includes an OFFRAMP custom Teflon-lined throttle cable. Its design helps reduce friction and improve cable smoothness and stability. It is one of the smoothest internal throttle kits available on the market today.
Cables & Compatibility
The Single Cable Setup
Converting to an internal throttle requires a dedicated single-cable setup. You must locate the cable adjuster either at the carburetor / throttle body end or inline along the cable.
Factory throttle cables typically place the adjuster at the throttle housing on the handlebar, which is not suitable for this internal throttle setup.
We have already taken this into consideration — every OFFRAMP Internal Throttle Kit comes standard with a high-quality Teflon-lined throttle cable.
Eliminating the Dual-Cable Setup
Now, let’s clear up the dual-cable question.
For decades, most non-electronic-throttle motorcycles have used a push / pull dual-cable throttle system.
However, the “return” or “push” cable is not what makes the throttle return properly.
On a properly set up carburetor or throttle body, the return spring is responsible for pulling the throttle butterfly closed quickly and securely.
The OFFRAMP Internal Throttle Kit also features an internal return spring.
So, if your motorcycle currently uses a dual-cable throttle setup, there is no need to worry. Nearly every internal throttle kit we sell ends up being installed on a motorcycle that originally came with a dual-cable throttle system.
That said, proper cable routing, correct adjustment, and full throttle return testing are required before riding.
⚠️TBW-Style Throttle Grip Required for All Applications
Regardless of whether the motorcycle was originally equipped with a cable-operated throttle, installation of this kit requires a 1-inch TBW-style throttle grip / throttle tube.
Here, “TBW-style” refers only to the mechanical interface between the throttle grip / throttle tube and the Internal Throttle Kit.
Simply put:
The throttle operates mechanically by cable, while the grip interface uses a TBW-style design.
✅ How to Install Your Internal Throttle
You do not need to weld or shorten the handlebar. Installation only requires cutting three small locating notches at the end of the handlebar.
Estimated installation time: approximately 1 hour with basic hand tools.
1. Remove
Remove the original throttle housing, throttle cable, and right-side grip.
2. Cut the Locating Notches
Cut the required locating notches at the very end of the handlebar.
Please note: this does not mean cutting off the handlebar. These small notches lock the internal throttle tube in place and prevent the entire mechanism from rotating when you twist the throttle.
You can use a Dremel, rotary tool, or small hand file to complete this step.
3. Slide In and Lock
Slide the OFFRAMP internal throttle tube into the handlebar. Align it with the notches you just cut and lock it firmly into place.
Throttle Cable Routing & Grip Installation
4. Route the Cable
Route the included single Teflon-lined throttle cable through the inside of the handlebar and connect it to the carburetor or throttle body.
First, cut the outer cable housing to the proper length. Then cut the inner cable to its final length.
Set the cable adjuster to its shortest position, then trim the inner cable so that approximately 30 mm of inner cable extends beyond the outer cable housing.
5. Install a TBW-Style Grip
Because our internal mechanism uses modern grip dimensions, you must use a TBW-style grip.
Please note: the kit does not include the grip. Use a compatible TBW-style grip to replace your original standard throttle-side grip.
Throttle Adjustment & Safety Checks
6. Adjust and Test
Adjust the throttle cable tension. Rotate the grip and make sure the throttle returns smoothly, firmly, and without any sticking or binding.
Before riding, always confirm that the throttle opens and snaps back properly with the handlebar centered, turned fully left, and turned fully right.
Special Notes
You do not need to weld or shorten the handlebar during installation. You only need to cut small locating notches at the end of the handlebar.
OFFRAMP strictly inspects every Internal Throttle Kit before it leaves the factory to ensure a smooth mechanical feel.
To further improve installation feel and long-term operation, we still recommend applying a small amount of grease to the slider during installation.
For safety, carefully complete throttle adjustment and return testing before riding.
If you are not familiar with throttle cable installation or throttle system adjustment, we recommend asking a professional motorcycle technician to install the kit.
Complete Your Internal Throttle Setup
Pair your OFFRAMP Internal Throttle Kit with our matching 1″ TBW-Style Throttle Tube and Throttle Housings for a clean, fully integrated handlebar setup.
We sell both components separately, so you can add them as needed to complete your build.
